The contest will provide cash awards for “Best in Show”, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the categories of “Scenery”, “Botanical / Plants”, “Wildlife” and “Butterflies / Moths / Insects / Arachnids”, and for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in two youth category age groups (under 13 and 13-17). Cash award values range from $10 to $125. All entered pictures must be taken within the Long Key grounds. Entries of up to four images require a small entry fee donation and will only be accepted at the Nature Center.

FOLK and the Long Key Nature Center are teaming up to offer photo walks. Park experts and seasoned photographers will take participants to areas of the Natural Area not normally open to the public, discuss photography techniques and tips and offer a unique opportunity to capture the shot of a lifetime.
Thank you, Marla Hernandez, our instructor for the "Snapshot of Photographic Practices" workshop held this past February 4th. Marla holds an MFA in Advanced Photographic Studies and is a former art administrator. Marla is a native South Floridian who spends free time visiting nature preserves with her camera. Her photography experience spans from studio portraits, to street photography, to experimental photo-sculpture.

Winners will be announced during the 5th Long Key Photo Contest reception to be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, in the Long Key Nature Center from 2:00 – 3:30PM. All entrants and their immediate families are welcome to attend the contest reception. Winners do not need to be present to win.
